About

Hannah Rowell is a contemporary visual artist working in drawing, painting, and installation. She is pursuing her MFA at Savannah College of Art and Design and lives in the woods of Bon Aqua, Tennessee. Her current body of work centers around imagery from and reverence for the land where she lives.

Using charcoal, graphite, and a variety of painting media, Rowell creates abstracted and fractured landscapes, as well as installations that explore the natural world, the passage of time, the healing potential of the land, and the cyclical nature of life.

Through imagery of roots, stones, and sky, her work invites the viewer to sit with the complex relationship we share with nature- where beauty and destruction, hope and loss, coexist.

Rowell has exhibited her work in both solo and group shows, and her pieces are held in the private collections of some of Nashville's prominent music industry artists. Her work will be on display in 2 upcoming solo shows in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Her work serves as a call to responsibility and reverence for the land, and an invitation to explore the boundaries between earth and sky, life and death, presence and absence.
